Tried Control Panel > Security Center > "Change the way Security Center
alerts me" ?
re "EMAIL IGNORED" - folk here generally won't *e-mail* you back anyway,
replying in the newsgroup instead. But if the Yahoo address you exposed in
your post (snipped above) is a real one, you may find plenty of spam to
ignore from now on!

The Yahoo e-mail address is a real one. It is not new; I have
had it for years. I use it for newsgroups, some of which
require a real e-mail address. Every month or two I go to it
and delete hundreds and sometimes thousands of e-mails.
Though, this won't stop a gazillion other programs from producing annoying
and distracting update-popups.
Or stop malware sites from imitating the latter. :-/
