Stop Messenger from loading

I have XP Home SP3. How do I prevent Messenger from loading automatically
at startup?

If you never use it - you can remove it
Start
Control Panel
Add/Remove prgs
in left margin click on
Add/remove Windows Components
scroll down - uncheck Windows Messenger
