Stop Explorer.exe

G

Guest

Hello everyone!

I was using Task Manager yesterday to stop explorer.exe from the Processes
tab and I received an Access Denied error. I tried to stop another service (a
service related to my Backup Drive), and I received the same error (But I was
able to stop it via Services.msc). I was logged on locally with the admin
account on the server.

Is Windows 2000 Server behave normally or can it be a problem with the Admin
account?

Thanks,
Martin

If the process was started by a service you probably don't have authority to
stop it. It was probably started with system account privileges.

Yes but it says in Task Manager that the process (Explorer.exe) was started
by Administrator... And I already done that with XP and it worked well.

Hard to say what you've got going there.
