Stop: c000021a error

One of the machines that I work on recently started getting the STOP:
c000021a The Windows Logon Process System Process terminated Unexpectedly
with code 0x00000008 error at bootup. The last thing done to it was I turned
off active desktop because it kept resetting/disappearing at almost every
reboot. Obviously this should have been a sign to me to see what else was
wrong.
I would try any of the help articles and such that I have found, but
unfortunately I cannot get into the system with either Last Known Good or
Safe mode. LKG gives the same error, and Safe Mode just reboots the system
without any error. Is there anything I can do?

I was going to say no, but I decieded to check and looked at the Windows
Update log using Knoppix. Apparently good ol' automatic updates installed
KB924191 and a MSXML 4.0 security update by what I could tell.
