STOP 0x000000B8

Eric

I have a Win2000 SP4 Pro machine with 512MB of RAM and for the past 2 days,
every time I log in right after I get the login box on the screen, the
machine crashes with the message:

STOP 0x000000B8 (0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
a wait operation, attached process, or yield was attempted from a dpc
routine.
Beginning dump of physical memory

I did some research on the web and all I could find was related to Win2000
cluster, scanners, WIN-DVD or parallel ZIP drive which does not describe my
situation.

Any idea.

Thank you.

Eric.

Hi Eric,

This king of bugcheck means that an illegal operation was attempted by a
delayed procedure call (DPC) routine.

To point on the faulty DPC and then on the faulty kernel object that
generate it a memory dump analysis is necessary. Unfortunatly it needs deep
debugging skills and cannot be done via the newgroups.

You should contact the Microsoft Support to have some help.
