still problems P4P800 deluxe bios 1014

I still can only boot from one HD, boot everyone without problems from the
first HD ??
Is there anyone with 2 or more HD's without problems ??
Can you pick every HD for boot or boot the system from de first HD again
after a reboot?
So is this a bug or do i something wrong ??
I even have flash back to 1008 and upgrade to 1014.
I have try both: afudos ( within zipfile ) and the latest asusupdate.
When i look under the option Hard disks in bios i see only my Maxtor SATA
disk and that seven times.
I can't change that only by loading setup-defaults, but after reboot i see
my Maxtor seven times again.

Flash back to 1008 and then flash 1012.

1014 obviously has some serious bugs with boot devices/HD detection.

Not exactly sure why you make these statements? I flashed to 1014 when it
first became available. I have 4 HDDs on my system (2 in a RAID 0 array)
and have no problem with the BIOS detection!

As a matter of fact I swapped out my Pri IDE Mas drive (from an older 13.5GB
IBM) to a new 80GB WD drive. Absolutly no problem. The 80GB pri part now
has W2K Ghosted from the older drive and the RAID array has my XP
installation. I dual boot by using the CMOS to change boot devices rather
then with software.

The 1014 picks up all HDDs and my three optical drives (one USB 2.0) without
any problem whatsoever! This is with both the 1012 and 1014 BIOS in use.
The "7 Maxtor Drives" issue has got to be a communications problem (or
ground problem) between the drive and the BIOS. Could be as simple as bad
cable or as difficult as faulty controler??

When the BIOS quieries the drive during post it most be getting variable
peramiters for the drive. It could therefore see the device as several
different entities thus your multiple readings. Have you tried different
drive/cables to see if you still have multiple instances of the HDD
reported? This last section is pure guess work BTW solely based on my
experience. YMMV!

Good Luck,
Len

Yes, it has no problems for YOU. Big ****ing deal, your config doesn't
trigger any of the bugs, but they ARE THERE dickeater.

Be friendly, you get more support !!
When i press F8 i can boot from every HD i want, so there is nothing wrong
with controler or cables.
Only the bios sucks.
When i disconnect my maxtor, i see 6 times my WD under harde disk drives.
When i disconnect my WD also, i see 5 x my Via Raid
When i disconnect my Via Raid also, i see 4 times my USB drive
When i disconnect my Usb drive also, i see 3 times my first SCSI drive
So it isn't a cable or controler problem.

Excuse me for trying to assist! What I said is that there may be problems
other than a BIOS flash involved! You will note that I did try to provide
some suggestions other than a "'cause mine works everyone's should work"
statment! Unlike "'cause mine don't work it HAS to be the BIOS" approach
which is not necessarily true.

However, I won't trouble you with any further input - you will get the
*PLONK* that you so richly deserve, Bye.

However, I still wish both you and Sharky well in tracking down the problem.

this sounds like a cable or terminator problem , going back to my scsi hard
drive days ! especially when you see things like 6 identical drives etc,
seems like you have flaky equipment )

With bios 1008 to1012 all ide and scsi drives work fine.
No problem at all.
I didn't know that i can destroye my cables or controlers with a biosflash.
Can a biosflash change the termination of my scsi-controler ??
I like that people want to help me, but read first my full post before you
response.
I'am not talking bullshit, the 1014 bios sucks !!!!!
