Still Need Safe mode + Didn't block home page hijack

Thanks again for the great product. But I have some mis-
givings about how well it will do against those severly
infected.

OVERVIEW

As mentioned before, I have friends with spyware on their
machines and I "broke" my machine in a quest to find a
antispyware that worked and was easy to use.

On my test machine I'd rate it a 90% success. So I waited
a little and finally got to try it on the "real" machine.

Well, I'd have to rate it 0% for that machine. This is an
about:blank problem/hijack

QUESTIONS (really NEEDS)

1. Need Auto safe mode, or better scanning
I didn't have time to run in safe mode to see if it fixed
the problem. I will try safe mode to see if it fixes the
problem. Even if it does, I think it is a stretch to have
the casual user go into safe mode. Also, if you need to
go into safe mode the program should know (by looking at
processes or registry entries) and it should display a
splash screen after the scan.

2. Didn't block home page hijack
I didn't expect the program to remove the about:blank
without safe mode, so I wasn't disappointed when it
failed (I was hoping that the program was upgraded and
didn't need safe mode anymore). However, I thought there
would be some value by it blocking the homepage hijack.
Well, it failed!!! After about 3 launches of IE the
hijack got in and the program didn't catch it.

As mentioned, I will run MSAS in safe mode in the near
future. What I'd prefer is to have an update that doesn't
need "safe mode" to resolve the problem so I can check
that it works on the machine (since my attempt to
reproduce the problem didn't work). If this upgrade is
close please advise.

Thanks.

Thanks for the post about restoring the IE settings.

Unfortunately, the product was supposed to prevent the
page from being hijacked in the first place. As mentioned
it worked fine a few times then for some reason it failed
and the home page settings were hijacked.

Also, I'm trying to review the product thru the eyes of a
casual user. I got some free antispy software and they
didn't work sufficiently so I paid for several antispy
products and they didn't work either.

My hopes for this product are that it work for the casual
user and it programatically do the things needed to
remove the spyware, e.g., boot into safe mode by itself.

Ensure that real time protection is turned on, thats the best way for
protection, and if you are running Windows XP SP2, ensure that Pop-Up
Blocker is turned on.

I've got the same problem.
i've got real time on and i've tried it in safe mode.
still doesnt work.
after a few time it just pops back up with a little screen
that says do you have spyware you click no or yes and it
starts all over again..
everytime i delete the blank file in c:\windows
a batch file called a.bat just copies it back so i delete
a.bat and it just comes back..
