Still Can't Log In XP...

I accidently disconnected power to my laptop during shutdown while an update
was downloading. Now when logging on to XP it immediately logs off. Can and
will someone please help me... URGENT!!! Thanks so much for your anticipated

i think that repair install will not work. i had the EXACT same problem
and all that did was stopping at 33 or 31 minutes and looping through
those what's new/better messages. i just did a normal install and
everything worked after that. but of course i lost a LOT of files cuz i
didn't have a backup (how can i backup files when the OS is not
working? )

Thanks so much, I am re-installing Windows XP as we speak. I don't have a
back up either... this is enough to make a grown man cry... lol I have to
have my laptop functioning, you can bet I will back it up now. Take care and
