Outlook Express rules!!!! Number one user agent of
alt.comp.freeware.

By 5 posts - that's a remarkably narrow margin. Clearly this group has
a much higher than average number of users who do not use OE, if a
niche client like Xnews can come that close to unseating OE. It's not
surprising, but it is encouraging to see that barely 1 post in 5 here
is made through Outhouse Excreta.

Absolutely, that is why the world is in such a bad state, with
violence and wars all around.

The trillions of flies who eat shit are absolutely convinced that they
are the ones who are sane, and that the ones who do not eat shit are
raving lunatics :)

It is easy to control the masses if you can make them eat shit and run
around like happy little squirrels.
Exstatically happy little hotheads go to work every day and get mad,
and then they go home to their girls and get happy again.

The happy speed freaks keep each other excited with manly bickering
and violent movies, and violent computer games, and then they let
their girls drive over them with a 50 ton truck loaded with cow shit.

It is good for the rulers, because these happy little speed freaks are
completely whacked in their heads, and have no idea what is really
happening. They only have a strong belief, and they are socially
strong, because they are violent. So the system goes on, and on..

Wise men have been looking for a solution for thousands of years.
We have changed the laws and removed all official support for the
system. We have officially given women the same rights as men.
We have put up declarations about human rights, democracy, individual
freedom. But the traditional old system is still in place in the
social field in certain parts of the world.

Note to Vic, can we at least agree than any new draft of the FAQ
includes a big No-No on cod philosophisers?
Either that or can someone explain to this poor chap that what he
thinks is the window is, in fact, his telly.

Yes, people are working on it. If you study the history of philosophy
or the history of religion, check out what humanism is, the history of
civil rights movements, women's liberation, secularization, etc.. you
might understand what is going on.

If you are lazy you can just continue to watch television, it will
show up there too, among all the expressions of the older cultural
patterns, like violence, traditional gender roles, stress, intensive
feelings, drama, fear, and other forms of extreme excitement.

Mass media are used to keep the heat up in the brains of people in
general, to keep them occupied and stop them from thinking clearly.

Few people are intelligent enough to stay out of it, and able to
handle the different state of mind they get into then.
It is painful to see all the crap when you are no longer a part of it.

Please find a support newsgroup for help with your pain rather than
posting broadsides about it in a.c.f.

These were excellent.

I liked many parts, but special mention about the timezones -- had never
seen newsgroup stats for that. Right now I think I'll go find an online
translator to chart visually for me those timezones with the corresponding
parts of the world.

Thank you much!

find an online translator to chart visually for me those timezones
with the corresponding parts of the world.

During the time period of the analyzed articles, the US switched from
daylight saving time to standard time, so the offsets in many headers
changed. <http://www.worldtimezone.com/> has a timezone map that is
pretty easy to take in at a glance.

Hardly... Considering the top 10 posts clients as inductive of the
total number of users, then Outlook only holds 34% of the total users.
That's A far cry from superiority. Also take into account that the
large number of "unknown clients" is almost half of that at 16%, which
is usual hacked variants of either Xnews or Agent, or those running
hamster.

You'll also notice a large majority of the posts are being made by
Xnews users, which tend to stick around a group for far longer...

I for one would be interest in a few more stats, just to see if this
trend continues. }:8)

Glad you liked them. Keep in mind that the timezone is set incorrectly
on many machines and can skew the stats slightly. It's easy to set the
correct time and still have the wrong zone set.

Sure thing, the interval can be changed as well as the top N in any
group ie top 20 posters or top 5 posters etc. I currently have a 60 day
spool.

And most of the Upworld changed the other way. 8^)
