what is the point of using stationery for your messages in windows mail, if
it dosnt show up in peoples emails (yahoo, gmail, hotmail)
now hotmail on the other hand, it makes it as an attachment...
what good is that, it just shows up as a picture of the stationery and is
not merged with the message itself.

There's no point in using stationary in any mail system, no one cares about
stationary. All that should matter is the content of the email, stationary
just uses up bandwidth and serves no purpose.

Your viewpoint is popular with us techies, but probably not with the
style-over-substance folks. ;-)

You assume that no one uses Windows mail. I love stationery and 90% of my
contacts use Windows mail. It feels good to receive an email with beautiful
backgrounds, music and whatever happens to bein the senders thoughts that
day. Email isn't always for business, it sometimes is for pleasure or a way
to wish someone a great day or a get well thought. I just wish Windows mail
made it as easy to use as it was in Outlook Express. I haven't figured out
yet how to get it to download into the stationery folder even though i am the
sole user and have administrator rights and a protected password. Any Ideas?

Hi Sally,

I'm having a problem in downloading Windows Stationery and by reading your
story, you seemed to have the same problem months ago. I was wondering if
you ever got your stationery download.

This is what I did and what is happening:

I opened Windows Mail (I running Windows Vista, I don't know if that
matters), Clicked on Tools, Options, Compose, Stationery and then Download
More, I checked off "Download More Stationery Here".

When it said "Download Now" with a drop down menu, I chose "Flowers
Stationery". Then I clicked on Go, Run, Continue. Then I had to click on
"Microsoft Outlook Express Stationery" at the very bottom of the page in
order to bring it up so I could view it, then I clicked Yes, Yes (for license
agreement). Then it started to copy files and then said Thank You for
choosing MS Outlook Express. Then clicked "ok".

Sometimes it told me that there might have been a problem installing and to
reinstall so I then would click on Reinstall and it did everything over again
and I still can't find the stationery in Windows Mail.

Please keep in mind, I am not very computer literate so if you have any
advice, I would appreciate that you don't assume I know technical language.
Please be specific so I know exactly what to do.

Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.

When you go to
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/stationerydl.mspx
and download & install it, it is located at
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery
this stationery was designed for XP Outlook Express, so the install program
doesn't know about Windows Mail.

The stationery for Windows Mail is located at
C:\Users\(youraccount)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Stationery

go to the first location, and copy or move the Flowers folder to the second
location

Hi Dave,

This has been really helpful but as you probably already guessed, I am not
too computer litrerate. I followed your directions and everything is ok up
until the last step. After I cc the folder (flowers) from the first
location, how do I paste or get it into the second location (where all the
other stationery for my windows mail is located)?????
