Startup taking too long

My windows 2000 computer takes forever to come up after I enter my login and
password. It just sits with my wallpaper on the screen for about 5-10
minutes before any icons appear. I checked the registry and Synchronization
Manager is in the Run directory and looks to be set to run at logon. Is this
what is causing the problem? I didn't have any trouble until Friday last
week. Thanks.

Try going to the Computer Management console and checking the nodes (System
in particular) under Event Viewer at your logon time. This may provide some
clues and to what may be hanging, failing, etc. Also, what have you changed
since last Friday?
