Startup slows after installing Flight Sim 2004

I have a realatively new notebook and just installed
Flight Simulator 2004 A Century of Flight. I also
installed Directx 9.0 from the FS disc. I have had no
problems with the program, but now when I power up my
notebook, the startup process has slowed down
considerably. It will load up a couple of programs onto
the taskbar, the hourglass will go away for about a
minute and a half, and the remainder of the startup will
continue. Any suggestions? Thanks.

You probably have too many programs/processes starting up with Windows.
Use msconfig to disable unnecessary items from startup. Here are links
