Startup Programs

There are three programs that startup automatically when
I turn on my computer and I don't know what these
programs are. Can someone explain the purpose of each
program to me and whether or not I will mess up something
if I remove from startup.

P2P Networking
Altnet/Points Manager-Peer Points Manager
MSMSGS - Windows Messinger?
Quicktime
Safely Remove Hardware???

If I want to stop them from opening at start-up, is
disabling through Run, Msconfig the best way?

Thank you. Does anyone know what the P2P Networking
program is...will it mess up any program to disable it in
msconfig?

No, I am not networking with another computer...so can I
disable the Peer to Peer Networking. Would it also have
anything to do with Kazaa? I don't want my computer to
be open to others for sharing unless I manually open the
Kazaa program.

So, do you think I can disable without a problem?
