Startup Problem

I recently began having problems with bootup that has me completely puzzled.
Everytime I startup my pc the Search Assistant reappears on my toolbar, and
the My Documents folder opens. I have obviously corrected these items when
the pc is on but they always reappear. I have tried turning off System
Restore and that hasn't worked. My Startup folder is empty. I have
doublechecked everything i can thing of using msconfig. No luck. I have an HP
Pavilion a450y with Pentium 4 Hyperthread Technology, Windows XP home, IE
6.0. Help?

For the My Documents issue go this this site:

Click on "M" and scroll down to "My Documents" for a resolution.

Check the information on MVP Kelly's excellent site here:

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/win_xp_mydocs.htm

Scroll down the page to find what you need. Pay particular attention to
the fact that this can be caused by a virus. If you don't have a
current antivirus installed (version no earlier than 2003) using
updated definitions, you need to get one immediately. Here's a good
one:
