Would someone be kind enough to look at this list of my XP Home SP2
startup entries and tell me if there is anything suspicious? I just
got a new laptop and have loaded up my software. I'm ready for school
and want to be sure my computer is safe. Thank you.

You have crap here that does NOT need to start at boot. It's your call.

Acrobat Assistant
The acrotray.exe process allow you to create pdf format documents from any
application. It watches a folder and any files saved into the folder are
instantly converted to pdf. If you use the 'watched folders' feature of
adobe acrobat you will need this process running for them to work correctly.

Adobe Gamma Loader
adobe gamma loader.exe is installed alongside Adobe Creative Studio products
and allows the color calibration of your video output device. This program
is a non-essential process

agrsmmsg.exe is a process installed alongside SoftModem Assistant and
provides additional configuration options for these devices. This program is
a non-essential process

avgcc.exe is a part of the Grisoft Internet Security Suite and is essential
for the secure and safe operation of your computer. It Protects against
viruses, spywares, worms and trojans. This program is important for the
stable and secure running of your computer and should not be terminated.

cfsserv.exe is a process belonging to Toshiba's ConfigFree utility and
searches for Wireless Devices. This program is a non-essential process.
This program is not required to start automatically as you can run it when
you need to.

Ctfmon.exe
ctfmon.exe = CTF Loader. Part of Microsoft Office. It activates
the Alternative User Input Text Input Processor (TIP) and the Microsoft
Office XP Language Bar.

When you run a Microsoft Office XP program, the file Ctfmon.exe (Ctfmon)
runs in the background, even after you quit all Office programs.

Ctfmon.exe monitors the active windows and provides text input service
support for speech recognition, handwriting recognition, keyboard,
translation, and other alternative user input technologies.

ctfmon.exe: This is your "Language Bar." Don't know what it is? I bet you do
not need it. Head to Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options ->
Languages TAB -> Details BUTTON -> Language Bar BUTTON (under
"Preferences") -> select the "Turn off advanced text services" check box.
This little detail will save you between 1.5 MB and 4 MB of RAM. If you are
using a "non-US" version, you may be required to install the English
localization to remove this "feature."
