start win2000 in real dos mode

to apply a fix to my DVD drive, I need to start a toshiba satelite pro4600
with win 2000 installed on the main partition in real DOS mode,
how can I do this, thank you for your help? I do have a win98 startup
diskette though I think that might be corrupt as the PC start on the
diskette but after a few seconds the cursor blinks?

Get a new Win98 boot disk from www.bootdisk.com.
