Start/Run...something

Win XP
From the desktop, I can open Excel rapidly by selecting Start/Run and typing
in Excel /safe OK. This is faster than selecting Excel from Explorer.
Can this command be added to the Start Menu/Programs/startup, so that excel
is opened automatically on boot up via the run command??

On your Start menu, right click on the Startup entry.
From the menu that pops out select "Open" if you want Excel
launched automatically only when your account logs on or "Open
All Users" if you want it to launch no matter which account
logs on.
In the Startup folder that opens, click on File on the toolbar
at the top of the window and select New -> Shortcut from the
menu.
In the Create Shortcut wizard, hit the Browse button.
Navigate to where Excel.exe in located on your system. It's
probably in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12 (or 10
or 11 if you have Office XP or Office 2003).
Once you're at the correct folder, click on Excel.exe.
Hit the OK button.
In the location box of the shortcut wizard, click right after
Excel.exe".
Hit the space bar and then type /safe.
The entry in the box should now look something like this.

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\EXCEL.EXE" /safe

Hit the Next button.
You can name your shortcut whatever you want or leave it set to
Excel.exe.
Hit the Finish button.

Restart your computer to see if you get the desired results.

Good luck
