Start Menu Program MRU Permanency

My MRU list, if the PC has been sitting idle for sometime (weeks), will
start to be trimmed even though no programs have been run to replace those
on the list.

Is there a time based setting somewhere that causes items to be removed
from the list?

The list items can become hidden after a certain point. Once right clicking
and selecting remove from list, the previous/rest will appear. There isn't
a time issue involved only a space issue. You can modify the number by
right clicking the Start Button/Properties/Customize/Number of
programs......

Hidden doesn't seem to be the point in my case. The area where they are
listed is quite large (able to hold roughly 30 icons) and yet there were
not even 10 icons in there.
