Start Menu Items missing

I don't know how, but suddenly the items 'New Document' and 'Open Document'
have disappeared from my Start Menu. As I use these menu items a lot I
really need to have them restored - can anybody help me please?

I am afraid it is more complicated than that! I was using Office XP when the
menu items originally went missing and upgraded to Office 2007 (Home & Small
Office edition) recently with the hope that the upgrade would solve this
problem (amongst others). However, as you can see from my original query
this was not successful. Do you know how I can put things right now - Please!
