Standby Com port issue

Running XP home addition on my HP computer (Pentium 3),

system tries to go into standby but warning comes up says:
com port 1 (or 2 or modem if disabled)is perventing XP
from going into standby.

Only way to make work (standby mode) is to disable com 1,
2, and modem (not very practical)

Using 56k modem on COM 4.

Any help would be of great thanks!

it sounds like your modem driver is not the most up to date version. have
you looked for the latest version on the manufacturers website?
