Stand by option in Windows xp

When I was using windows 98 ...I am able to use the
"stand by mode" option but in win xp, the option is not enabled....I
disabled the hibernate option....I can see the stand by option by
pressing "turn off" ......but it is disabled....How can I use the
standy mode back...Is it possible in winxp?.....

Do you have the latest XP video drivers from the manufacturer and not
Microsoft?

* Right-click My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager >
expand 'Floppy disk controllers' > right-click 'Floppy disk controllers' >
select 'Uninstall'
* Reboot computer

* Click 'Refresh' to redetect the floppy disk controller > restart computer
