Stalls At Shutdown

I have a PC that run XP and it stalls occasionally when doing regular things
(Web, saving a file, closing a program, ect) and especially when shutting the
system down. It stalls at the shutting the system down screen forever, or
until I disconnect power. Any ideas as to what causes this?

Additionally, most often these types of problems are caused by malware
on the system so you should ensure that your computer is 100% virus and
spyware-free. Post back if you need help with steps for determining
that.
