SQL Server support

I'm trying to find a roadmap for SQL Server versions supported on XP
Embedded.

It appears that MSDE support will be expiring, but I haven't seen anything
spelling out its replacement. Will the successor be SQL Server 2005 Express,
or SQL Server 2005 Everywhere edition? Is there a date this will take place?

I'm fairly new to XP Embedded, and am also curious as to its successor; will
there be a Vista Embedded? and if so, is there a date?

Thanks, Andy. On more point to clarify... on the SQL Express Edition SP1
download page ...

....under "System Requirements", Microsoft states "Note: There is no support
in this release for Windows XP Embedded Edition."

Do you know if, in this case, "no support" means "Don't even try to install
SQL Express on XPe", or is it more along the lines of "You can run SQL
Express, just don't come looking for us to fix anything you find that might
be broken."?

Hi Tom,
That quote in the download page will change <grin> , it was posted
before the Feature Pack 2007 work was in full swing.

The SQL team is very much interested in the XP Embedded scenarios, this
macro component in the FP build is the first wave of support for SQL
Express on XP Embedded. During the Feature Pack product cycle
development we have worked closely with their team. But you can use the
SQL Express Macro component in the Feature Pack to enable deployment of
SQL Express 2005 by installing it from the desktop.
