SQL CE Replicaiton Error: Initializing SQL Server Reconciler has failed.

Error: 80045901 Initializing SQL Server Reconciler
failed. Minor error: 29045.

This is what I recieve when trying to sync with the SQL
server from my PDA. I have seen the Microsoft fix for
this, which is to register sscerp20.dll. That hasn't
helped in the slightest. Has anyone else seen this issue
or perhaps, (*fingers crossed), found a solution for it?
Please help cuz I have only so many pieces of hair left
to pull.

Thx,
roberto

Hi Roberto,

I encountered the problem after trying to install SQL
Server Reporting Services Beta 2 which failed indicating
that I needed to install a Hotfix which I then tried to
do.
The hotfix(KB810185) then failed whilst trying to apply a
SQL script in the replication part of the hotfix.

The installation was then cancelled. I then tried to
Synchronise using my PDA and encountered the same error as
yourself.

I tried the refresh the publication (in Enterprise
Manager) and this failed. I then reapplied SP3a which
failed indicating an issue with replication.

I resolved my issue by selecting the properties for my
instance of SQL Server (in Enterprise Manager) and then
clicking on the Replication Tab. I then selected
publication Databases and removed the check against my
problematic database and applied the changes. I then
rebuilt my publication and everything worked fine.

I hope this is of some help to you.

Regards
Matt

Yeah.. It took me till the wee morning hrs before I got it to work.. It
was pretty much as you experienced. Rather my sequence was to dump the
publication, recreate the Virtual Dir and then publish after the Vir
Dirs have been created.. the error that I had received previously was
erroneous. My SSCERP20.DLL was successfully registered. Again, thank
you for responding. Hopefully this will go towards the next person who
encounters this issue.
