spyware prevention problem

I have an program to prevent spyware. Sometime, when it runs, it removes
the bottom line on the screen (START, time, etc). Everything else on the
screen is the same.

With this line gone, I have no way to control. So far, all I do is turn
the switch off and then back on.

Is there something simple I should do to get the lower task bar back?

Press Ctrl+Alt+Del

If Task Manager doesn't open straight up select Task Manager.
Select File- Run and type explorer and press Enter.

That will start explorer running again.

Go to the spyware program site , see if there is a forum relating to
this problem .

X

Xandros

hold down the Windows Key (key with little flag on it next to Ctrl)
press the R key. This will bring up the Run box
type the following and press the Enter key to reboot the computer.

shutdown -r

See the commands here http://www.tech-recipes.com/windows_tips84.html

However you should try to determine what is causing the problem. See if the
spyware program has an update or fix.

Sounds like malware.
Do a thorough check for malware, following all of the steps at one of these
Web pages.

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing programs like Messenger Plus,
whose ads for malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince
you that you owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.
