Spyware playing up with my desktop background!!

Edwin

while i was surfing the net, my desktop background went
from that green hills and blue sky background, to a black
background with a message in the middle in yellow writing
telling me that i had spyware and to clik on the link to
remove it (i wasnt gona fall for that)

after installing Microsoft AntiSpyware, it removed the
spyware on my computer but instead of my background going
bak to the green hills and blue sky, it went to a
white/beige kind'ov color & it starts flashing everytime
i click on one of the icons on the desktop.

i've tried going to the display menu and changing the
background but it still stays the same. i've tried right
clicking a picture and setting it as the desktop
background but it still stays the same and when i right
clik on the screen to where you go to change your
desktop/screensaver, it comes up with a list you would
usually see when you right click on the background of an
internet website.

how do i change my desktop background back to wat i want
it to be?? PLZ HELP!!

I am struggling with a similar, perhaps the same,
problem. See "Virus" from yesterday's postings. Have
not been able to fix yet but have not tried all that has
been recommended to me.

I believe it to be the Trojan Horse Puper C of May 17th
origin but have not found a way to remove it yet.

I'll watch the resposes you get and will post back if I
find something that works.

I FOUND A SOLUTION!

Go to Control panel, appearance and themes, change the
desktop background, click 'customize desktop, click web
tab and unclick any of the options that are ticked. it
worked for me and that annoying flashing grey background
went away

Thanks Edwin, that worked for me too!

In the web tab it had the security info box ticked, which
I unticked.

Good stuff! Thanks for posting back your solution.
