Spyware definitions cannot be updated/downloaded

I downloaded the "NEWER/BETTER" (sic) version of MS Anti-
Spyware since my old one expired on 7/31. However, after
installing the new software, the latest spyware
definitions I have is 07/08 and I tried
updating/downloading for the latest spyware definitions
but my computer keeps on indicating that it is searching
for new definitions for a few seconds then it would
say "(SYSTEM) NOT RESPONDING".

Can you please help me with my problem.

Can anybody help me with my problem. I posted this problem
on 8/5 but nobody came back to me yet.
Why is my MS Anti-Spyware "freezing". It worked fine
before it expired on 7/31.

It looks like a lot of people are having problem(s) with
this "newer/better" MSAS. I STILL CANT UPDATE to the
latest/updated anti-spyware definitions. My computer is
still freezing when I click on the update option on the
File tab.

Help PLEASE, anyone!

Hello Ram,

try a really fresh install:

uninstall, Delete MSAS folder and
delete in C:\windows\system32 the following files:
GCCollection.dll
hashlib.dll
gcUnCompress.dll

run a regceaner (Ccleaner)

Also use the temp cleaner of Ccleaner.

Do a fresh install with version .615 (latest)
