Spyware and XP (SP2) Firewall

Since installing the Beta MS spyeare programme I cannot
set my XP Firewall "on". I keep getting the message from
the Security Centre that "the windows firewall cannot be
turned on." When attempting to set it via Control Panel -
Windows Firewall the error message "Windows cannot start
the Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing service"
Any ideas - aprt from removing the Beta spyare package
will be appreciated.

Your TCP/IP stack may be infected, try running spybot or
uninstalling the reinstalling the tcp/ip protocal stack.

The only way I could get it back was to do a system
restore from the checkpoint I took before cleaning up
some spyware. If there's another solution, let me know
too.

quickly solved. Regards to all.

Beta removed the spyware, but broke the ICS. Following the
instructions in kb article fixed the problem in seconds!
