Spybot S&D question

Has anyone experienced a problem with the last update to Spybot S&D
causing a massive slowdown with the scan process? I just updated and a
scan that normally takes less than 10 minutes to check for over 54,000
problems had only completed about 7800 after 12 minutes. I restored
the program from a backup a few days ago and it was back to normal
speed. I redownloaded the updates that came on the 5th and it was
again very slow. I'm hoping others have noticed this.

I just ran it with the most current updates, and the bot check of 55714
items ran normally, as did the finding of questionable cookies.

Rats! I wonder what's going on with my puter. I uninstalled it
totally, rebooted, redownloaded the program, installed, updated, and
the slowness was still there. Going back to the last backup I have and
the program runs normally. I guess I'll just wait a while and see if
the problem just 'goes away'. LOL Oh, did you get the latest MS
updates for XP? This past Tuesday was "update Tuesday" for those who
don't have automatic updates enabled. Maybe there's a problem with the
last MS update and S&D. In the mean time, Adaware and last weeks S&D
says my system is ok, as does AVG. I love the world of Windows. :)

Try getting your updates from another site.
I think I generally use one of the German servers

Just an update to my problem. The problem does not exist if I run
Spybot from Safe Mode. I guess that's what I need to do, but it is a
slight inconvenience. :(

Safe mode dos'nt load your drivers.

In normal mode, have a look in Device Manager to see if there are any
conflicts.

Yeah, I tried turning off my AVG antivirus to see if that was "the"
problem. It wasn't. I might try turing everything off in MSConfig and
then enabling them one at a time, but even if I find the culprit, it
might just be easier to boot to safe mode anyway. It only takes a few
extra minutes to boot to safe mode, then boot back to normal mode
after Spybot runs. Plus, a reboot is a good thing sometimes. That's
what I'm telling myself, anyway. :) It just seems strange that the
problem occurs only after the update of 5 Jan, 07.

No problems here. Perhaps you need to unisntall/reinstall it?

Another follow to my own post. I got a reply from the Spybot people to
my problem, and apparently, I'm not alone. Until a fix is found, it's
Safe Mode for me. At least I know it's not only me. :)
