SpyBot - AUTO RESTARTs COMP

when i use spybot it Scans a bit more than halfway and then my Computer restarts. Whats the problem?!

Try restarting the machine in safe mode then run spybot again or if useing vista you may need run spybot as administrator. Good luck..

I think I saw this once.
Safe mode should be good - also make sure you're running it with an Admin account.
I expect you might find a couple of Access Violations in the Application Event Log....?
Feel free to post up your logs for a look-see.

Please Help

after i wrote this stuff my comp coundt even get past the loading - but later it randomly worked - the spybot scan still dosent work in SAFE MODE!
even in administrator.

and i have a bunch of "config" files in windows but system 32 is near empty - i have a "system" file - but i cant find it - however a friend of mine found the event logs - but i m not sure if we saw any access violations.

AVGAS dosent rid the virus or w/e - my friend says it could be some trojan.
please help - can u figure out the prob throuh HJT? how do u know whats going on?

HyjackThis is a usefull tool for searching out nefarious activity but before useing I would head over to Kaspersky Online Virus Scan, IE only and see what it finds and possible solutions. That fun stage completed running scannow, to check and repair the original system files would be a good. Type 'sfc /scannow' into the run box with original install dvd at the ready and follow the prompts.

The Windows XP/Vista installation CD/DVD is what you need for 'sfc /scannow'

The 'sfc /scannow' command will only replace system files that may be missing or changed on your system, including your system.32 dir. Your post OS installed programs will not be effected. The original OS install disk is only needed to replace those corrupt or missing system files.

HyJackThis - You would use this to see if anything looks out of place and should be used with caution when deleting any enties. If unsure with what you see, save a log file and post it here if problems persist.

Virus scanners SHUT DOWN

I used the kapersky online scanner and my own freeware scanners + Spybot and they all end up not finishing and shutting down my computer!

for the mean time i disabled system reload and no reboot during system failure.
What can fix this shut down virus/trojan whatsits? Does norton 360 work - considering you guys say norton sucks?

360 is a vast improvement over previous Norton releases, Symantec Endpoint also works well without loading up on system resources.

Can you run hyjackthis, save a log file and post results here so we can see what may be goung on?
Have you installed any new hardware on the system prior to the problem occurring?

Depending on how much time/patience you have.....

You could troubleshoot your existing system with Hijack This, etc etc (We're happy to help!)
OR
You could connect your Hard Disk as a secondary/tertiary unit in a seperate desktop PC, and use the System/Boot Patition of that PC to scan/repair yours.... with the owners permission of course!
OR
There are companies that will do this for you, but they're usually unrealistically expensive..
OR
Worst case scenario - wipe your system partition and reinstall Windows.

i didnt install anything - this started after i let a responsible adult show something on my comp - and the next day it had turning on problems and scanning ends up shutting down and turning on problems again -this dissappeared for some reason -and spybot was able to finish scanning and delete a "spywarequake" - then it stopped - but now its back and meaner - what is risk tool reboot?<< a scanner picked it up
