spooler subsystem app

I continue to encounter the message "spooler subsystem app has encountered a
problem and needs to close" and"operation could not be completed". Print
spooler also will not start up automatically, and when I go to my computer,
manage, services, and click on start print spooler it does, but then goes
off, and says I need to add a printer. Been thru hours with microsoft,
deleted all drivers downloaded latest printer driver from mfg (xerox);
altered registry as in knowledge base, think it may have to do with some
dependency like "remote procedure call". any suggestions? Microsoft help is
of no real help in this situation.

Hi Dave,
I saw once the excact same problem and an In-Place Upgrade (Q315341) fixed
it.
What error do you get if you add a printer ?
Can you try adding an USB printer ?
