Spool problem: NetGear PS110 & DeskJet 1220C

Folks,

I have a Netgear PS110, connecting a LaserJet 4 Plus and a Deskjet 1220C.
Jobs are spooled ok to the LaserJet, but print jobs sent to the Deskjet
1220C (small and large) take a long time to print. My suspicion is that they
do not appear to be spooled, and that the driver is printing directly to the
device. The option to start printing after the last page is spooled is
turned on, and I have lots of spooling space on the drive. FWIW, the
properties page for the DeskJet 1220C takes much longer to display than the
LaserJet.

Any ideas ?

Cheers

Kenny

Kenny:

I'll offer up what's working for me, but I also have a
question for you.

I'm running a Netgear PS113 Print Server with a LJ-III and
a Deskjet 895C. Currently, they are getting print jobs
from a desktop PC running Win Me, and a laptop running Win
2000. For each Printer, I have the Spool Setting (Printer
Properties, Details, Spool Settings) set to Enable
Spooling and to start printing after the first page is
spooled. Spool Data Format is set to 'EMF'. Hope this
helps.

Here's my question: I have recently installed XP Pro on
another laptop, which accesses my network wirelessly. It
sees the network fine, can access the web, shared drives,
etc., but won't print to the printers on the Print
Server. It will print fine when direct-connected to a
printer on LPT1. I'm sure there is some simple change I
neeed to make to fix this but am stumped. Could you tell
me how you set yours up? I mean right down to the basic
setting of Workgroup, syntax, fixed vs. dynamic IP adress
etc. Any insights would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill
