Speaker Positioning

I just bought a pair of Paradigm Studio 40 speakers. I will be placing them on some built in bookcases in my living room. Can anyone tell me if it matters whether I position them vertically or horizontally with respect to audio quality?

No, it won't affect the audio quality.

If you listen from a fixed position it may change your perception of the transmitted sound but if a change was noticeable I'd expect it to be very minor.
