Spam filter failure

All of a sudden my spam filter is failing after approximately a year of use
and current updating. Many senders on my junk mail list are now getting
through to my inbox, and classic spam for drugs, sex sites, mortagage offers,
etc which had been blocked are now getting through. The faiure is not
complete, howver as some spam is being picked up.

I've repaired, reinstalled, updated, etc. to no avail.

Does anyone know how to correct this spam filter failure?

The filter is not failing, the spammers are getting smarter. I tend to rely
on SpamBayes for serious filtering as it is a "learning" filter than changes
with the spammers.

(insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal account
will be deleted without reading.

While Milly is right - spammers are getting smarter and a 3rd party filter
will have much better results (blocking senders by email address or domain
is generally a waste of time, effort, and resources) - what version of
Outlook do you use?

I don't think this explains what I've seen, although I don't doubt the
evolution of spam. Sites I specfically put on my junk-senders list are
getting through, as is spam with obvious keywords that should be flagged.
Also, when this started last week I suddenly was receiving a very large
number of spam in my inbox that I would not have seen previously; that is the
change was not gradual.

In any event, thanks for the comments.
