Space bar problem in Word 2000?

Guest

This one has me stumped! When I open a new document in Word 2000 (Win XP)
and attempt to type text, the spaces between words don't show up on the
screen even though I'm tapping the space bar. I've attempted to reset
spacing between characters (expanding and condensing and kerring) but it
doesn't seem to make a difference, nor does font size/selection.

Any ideas? Thanks very much--

I assume that you typed this post on the same keyboard, so the problem
is only in Word and not a hardware glitch.

Try renaming and replacing the Normal.dot template as described at
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/BlankDocNotBlank.htm
("Creating a new Normal.dot from scratch").
