SP4 windows flashs on and off??

Has anyone else experienced problems installing SP4 on
Windows 2000? If I run the installation from Windows
Update or if i download the install file I still get the
same problem. It extracts the files to a temporary
directory, automatically starts up update.exe, the first
set-up window pops up and straight way closes it's self?

Help \

Do yourself a favour and order the SP4 CD, it's free.

Well if you have the CD you don't have to use 'windows
update' to install it, you just stick the CD in the drive and
go from there. As you have to have Admin permissions
to install SP4, I don't think you're being very smart going
online for 'windows update' using the Admin account.

As service packs presumeably correct coding flaws, I
install SP4 offline immediately after doing a clean install
of Win2k and don't archive the old files.

Thank you for that useful reply. Are there any other
communities online that actually help with Microsoft
issues, rather than point out the obvious or just suggest
a full system rebuild everytime I install a new Microsoft
patch?
Seeing as though I've tried (as previously detailed),
windows update, downloading the whole install file and
also waiting a month for a MS cd to pop through my door
and tried that, all whilst being the Admin of my machine,
does anyone have any other ideas as to what is causing the
install window to pop up and then close itself??

Thank you very.
