SP4 install aborted WIN2KPro and generated BLUE SCREEN

Was told by IS dept to install SP4 on home laptop,
selected Express install after verifying upgrade would be
ok for my system. During execution, windows shutdown, no
error messages prior to this, started to boot and now I
get BLUE screen, a message that lasts for less than 1/10
second so I cannot tell what it is and the pc boots again
to only go through the same cycle once more. Thoughts? Is
this pc screwed. HELP PLEASE!!!

I had performed all Critical Updates for Windows 2000 Prof
on a Compaq Armada E500 laptop and finished with the
Cumulative patch for IE6. The Update appeared to go
successfully and the laptop asked to be re-booted. Now the
laptop will not fully boot but gives a blue screen much as
you describe (1/10 second) and then the PC tries to reboot
again and again... Pressing F8 to try Safe Mode etc does
no good as all options available only give the same result.
I really NEED HELP ALSO!!
