Not knowing the details, I suggest that you empty the recycle bin and defrag
the drive to consolidate the free space. There may be some other reason but
at least take these prelimary steps.
Disk Cleanup will take care of your problem. Make sure you select System
Restore under the "More Options" tab. This will clean all but the most
recent restore point.
I noticed the same thing and ran the defrag but didn't notice any
appreciable difference. I cannot find the temporary setup folder to delete
as someone suggested.
Once I was happy that absolutely everything was working OK after the SP3
download & install, I simply ran Disc Cleanup ( including all bar the most
recent Restore Point ) and recovered almost 3gb of space. There's no point
poking around looking for stuff to delete, you could make a real mess of
things.
no restore points before install (strange) none the whole month. system
restore is on.
