SP2 ??

Barry

Looking in Control Panel, "add/remove programs", I notice that I have many:
"Windows XP Hotfix KBxxxxxx "...(24 items)
"Windows XP Hotfix (SP1) Qxxxxxx"...(22 items) and
"Windows XP Hotfix (SP2) Qxxxxxx"... (1 item).......................
Then I notice in Explorer/ Windows, numerous items (the text is the color
blue) "$NTUninstall Qxxxxxx$".
Now my question, If I install SP2 will all these items, be removed, or
should I remove them manually??? Any advise before I install SP2 ?.
I also notice that if I go to "Windows Update" that the only update
available is SP2.

Thanks

Leave those hotfix entries alone, install SP2, then see the following:

Yes all SP1 updates (Hotfixes) will be replaced by SP2.
It is also not necessary to install SP1 before installing SP2.
There is a lot of information out as to what to do before installing SP2.
http://forum.aumha.org/viewforum.php?f=45

It is not recommended to install SP2 as a fix for a computer having
problems.

Almost all will be removed, subsumed in the big $NTServicepackUninstall.
They contain the files needed should you want to uninstall a particular
fix; and if SP2 has been installed, trying to use one would probably
confuse things badly
