SP2

I am debating if i should install SP2. By looking at these posts and talking
with freinds that have installed it, it appears there are many issues,
lockups, crashes, systems not running well, etc... after the install.
Bottom line they are having way too many problems with the update. I know of
cooperate techncians warning people NOT to install at this time. I am scared
to do the install. I have too much at state on this system. My question is,
is microsoft aware of these problems and will they correct this soon with
fixes to SP2 in the near future. I don't recall having or seeing these issues
with SP1.

The choice is yours of course. However, if your PC is well
maintained, that is if you've kept up to date with all the previous
hot fixes, no spyware or malware on your machine, AV program and
firewall up to date, and you are faithful in making backups, then SP2
should not be a problem for you. And in the unlikely event you do
have a problem, a backup will restore your PC. I've applied SP2 to
two desktops and a laptop with no problems whatsoever.

You can always uninstall SP2 if you ahve problems. And yes, Microsoft is
well ware of some problems and is working on them.

Major system crashes are an infinite small number of cases compared to wel
functioning machinres running the updated O/S.

Hi Troy,

If you have been following the many posts here, then you
know what to do to properly prepare your computer for
SP2. Ask your friends this, did they follow the advice by
many of the MVP`s or Microsoft prior to installing SP2?
if they didn`t, then its more their fault then anything
else why their computer isn`t running right.

Just browse through the posts here and find the ones from
the MVP`s that has links to sites on how to properly
prepare your computer. If you follow their advice you
should have no problems with your computer.

I have installed SP2 on 130 computers, 2 of them are my
personal computer and 128 are work computers. I haven`t
had any problems because I prepared the systems properly
for SP2.

Whatever you may have heard, SP2 has been a good upgrade for the vast
majority of users. Preparation is the key. And don't expect any fixes
to SP2. There will be patches coming out, there have been a few already
to deal with specific issues affecting a very limited number of users,
but there is not going to be any wholesale change to SP2.
