Sp2 question

My sister is running a new Compag with XP and she did all of the required
updates both from microsoft and from compag prior to installing the Sp2.
Since installing the Sp2 her PC shutsdown by itself. She has changed the
power options to "never" but still the PC wants to shut itself down. Any
suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Is this a complete shutdown or a reboot? Have a look in the Event Viewer to
see if any entries there may point towards the problem.

turned off - where is the event viewer? Thank you again.

From Start>Run type

eventvwr.msc

CLick on the icons in the left hand column. Look for any entries that have
'Error' in the Type column. One of those may help with the problem.

Thank you Will for the additional info - in checking the event viewer on my
own PC - I am just curious if you would know anything about this "error"
-Service Control Manager Category None Event 7000 User N/A.
