SP2 Precludes Booting From Cd Drive?

I had been using booting from the Linux Knoppix CD which puts a PC into the
Linux operating system about which I am writing a report from my computer
club. However, since I installed the Windows XP SP2 the that CD will no
longer boot.

I have checked my BIOS to ensure the CD drive is being interrogated before
Windows XP boots from my hard drive. I had to reset it after installing SP2.
Nevertheless, I still can't boot from the Knoppix CD.

Is this a Windows XP problem? If so , what is the solution?

Thanks

I fail to see how Windows would be able to effect it as it obviously happens
before Windows enters the memory. Windows also wouldn't change CMOS
settings, so may be a diffy battery on your motherboard or something?

My Knoppix CD boots fine post SP2. Make sure your BIOS is
set correctly to boot from a CD. As Paul has said, SP2
should have had no effect on the BIOS although I don't
agree that Windows can't change the BIOS/CMOS. How about
the system time, for example?

I'll give you that one. ;-)
