SP2 files

On my daughter's laptop (XP pro) there are three files listed at Control
Panel | Add Remove Programs that are identified as being sp2 Hotfixes.
They are KB810243, Q322011 and Q814995. She has NOT oked for any sp2
downloads (her Automatic Update is turned off). What are these files and
why are they listed? SP2 doesn't appear to be installed since all the other
HOT Fixes (from the past year, or more) are still listed. She also doesn't
have any of the features of sp2 (Explorer Bar, Popup blocker, etc)
available.

System Info shows SP1 yet SP2 is not listed when I go to Windows Updates!

Any ideas what's going on here?

Any Windows Update files downloaded after installing SP1
are noted as a SP2 hotfix. This does not mean the actual
Service Pack 2 was installed, only a hotfix.

Thanks Carey - All this sp2 stuff is way to much.

We just bought (a week ago) an EMachines system for our son (homework and such). I just called EMachines and asked about sp2 and before I could finish my sentence I was interrupted with "avoid it at all costs".

A hole in the WSC has been found by security companies and is being reported (PCMag for one) but Microsoft denies this - Who to believe?

Here's just one quote:

Microsoft has released a long list of programs that are affected by its new XP SP 2 patch, including many of its own products, and security experts are counseling companies to take a wary approach to using the update. "Don't apply it until you know that it's working," says Secunia CTO Thomas Kristensen. "

". . . . long list (?) . . . including many of it's own products . . .. " What is THIS?

I think I'll do without - thank you

A lot of items that went into SP2 have been available on regular update
for some time, and described as SP2 (candidates for it if you like)
