SP2 Files found on my NEW Computer

S

Sandy Sanders

While looking at the programs loaded on my new system, I discovered these
program files.
MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB925672)
MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB927978)

I purchased this computer on 31 Jan 07. The programs were installed 7 Feb
07.

Any one know what they are. Doesn't seem like I should have SP2 programs on
a Vista OS.

Those aren't Windows XP SP2, they're MSXML SP2. SP stands for Service Pack.
Every major application or operating system Microsoft sells gets updates
routinely. Those updates are, on occasion, rolled up into a service pack
for easy maintenance. Each application or operating system has its own
sequence. For instance, Windows 2000 is currently on SP4. Its SP2 had no
relationship to Windows XP SP2. Microsoft is working SP1 for Vista. Some
time later, they'll have SP2 for Vista. It won't have any relationship to
Windows XP SP2.

Hope that helps,

Dale
