SP2 and Repair Installs...

Without SP2, in the past, it was easy to do a Repair Install by booting with the Windows
XP CD and going through the setup process until an already installed version of Windows
was found, and then take the option to repair the existing version of Windows XP. Since
SP2 is a Major Upgrade, and will make MAJOR changes to the operating system, will a Repair
Install just remove SP2 as it would other Windows XP Updates, or would having SP2
installed make it impossible to do a Repair Install with a Windows XP 1a CD?

I imagine that a Repair Install would treat SP2 just like it does SP1.
It deletes it.

You can do a repair with either SP-1, 1(a), or 2 installed. And yes, it
will remove all Windows updates that had previously been installed.

Hi,

You are right, that is why I have made a slipstreamed windows XP with
sp2, so a repair install automatically has SP2 on it.

You can use Autostreamer:

It is extremly easy to use, you just need to download the 266 mb SP2
installation and have your Windows XP cd (any one, either the first or
a SP1).

It will generate an ISO file, which can be burned from any burner
program ... and now you have an installation CD with Windows XP
(Professional or Home) with built in SP2.

Regards Leif.
