sp2 and ie version

I had the opportunity to view a computer with winxp sp2 installed.
Other then a beefier firewall (don't use this, already have one) it
looks like the biggest change in winxp to IE and OE. This seems to
bear that out:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/ieoeoverview.mspx

I notice that the IE version in sp1a is 6.0.28, while the version in
sp2 is 6.0.29. It is surprising to see major security issues
addressed and the version is still 6.0.

Can I upgrade to IE 6.0.29 without bothering with sp2 ?

Thanks...
