SP2 - Access Denied Error

B

BigAl.NZ

Hi Folks,

During the backup of the registry during the install of Service Pack 2
on a laptop I get 5: Access Denied Error for a registry key under
HKLM....\joystick\winmm

Now i have searched the KB and found the article that says to check the
permissions are set for Administrator on that key, and I am logged on
as administrator.

The permissions are set to full access and read for administrator, but
I still get the error.

Does anybody know why this might be?

I even tried installing SP2 in safe mode - same error.

Its on a Panasonic Toughbook laptop.

Suggestions please. (PS: Cant do a reinstall with a Slipstream version
either)

Cheers

Hi Al,

Are there any special permissions set? The Deny entries take precedence over
the Allow entries. If not, try using SubInACL to reset the permissions.
Check the following URL.
