Sound Recorder

How do you select what input is recorded with the Sound Recorder? There
doesn't seem to be a Record sound mixer, like in XP.

Control Panel -> Sound -> 'Recording' tab -> select the source you want &
click 'Set Default'

While on the topic of Sound Recorder... Why on earth did MS rename
sndrec32.exe to soundrecorder.exe????

Do they never consider that they might be breaking legacy code ? -
obviously not.
