A brand new Dell Demension E510 & the sound recorder doesn't work. No matter
what's done. The microphone is anot at fault.

Even Dell tech help was a waste of time. I don't want to do a system
restore. What should do??

"Doesn't work" is a useless description of the problem. Explaining what it
is doing compared to what you think it should be doing would be the place to
start.

What have you done so far? What did Dell have you do? What were the
results? What were the exact error messages if any?

My left big toe hurts; can YOU tell ME why?

Use a third-party application in place of 'Sound Recorder'.

HOWEVER, it would be a real good idea to learn how to report and diagnose
computer problems, just in case you have future problems. At the moment,
only you have access to the details of your problem. Dell really should be
able to diagnose the problem, but ONLY if you supply the necessary
information, and follow the troubleshooting steps you are given.

Make sure "mute" is not checked in your "volume" controls.
