Sound problems

I use WindowsXP Home Edition have a SoundBlaster sound
card and the Installation CD for the software. However, I
am getting no sound. When I put in a music CD it 'looks'
as if it's playing ok(the slide on Media player moves
right along) but there is no sound. I have checked the
connection to the computer from the speakers and
subwoofer and it is all in order. I have checked volume
controls and run the troubleshooter. I am wondering if I
have the settings(Device Manager)wrong but don't know
which is correct. Also, I tried to remove the
SoundBlaster software using Add/remove Programs but it
will not be removed. This surprised me!I wanted to
reinstall the software. Any help would be appreciated
by this senior.

If other sounds on your computer work OK it is probably
that the stereo sound cable that runs between the back of
the CD-ROM and the sound card (or motherboard) is not
installed or has come loose. You can verify this as the
problem by plugging a set of earphones into the from of
the CD-ROM. If you hear sound through them (adjust the
volume), the problem is almost certainly because the
stereo cable inside the computer is not connected properly.

Good Luck !

get a set of headphones, and make sure that your speakers
are not bad. Plug your head phones into all of the jacks
to make surre you didtn mistake the output one. Goto
SoundBlasters website and search their for similar
problems, and download any updates to your drivers they
may have and your problems should be pretty well handled.

Just a thought, are your speakers turned on? Not meaning to be insulting
here, I've done it myself.
